Gamble/Double feature

The win doubling feature, known as Gamble or Double Feature, is an optional extra that is offered to the player after a successful spin. Its goal is to enable you to increase your winnings, but always at the risk of losing everything. Unlike the standard mechanics associated with the main gameplay, Gamble is a separate bonus activated at the request of the player.

How the Gamble function works

After receiving a win (usually any, but sometimes only above a certain limit), the slot offers:
  • 1. Save the win - take the money and continue the game.
  • 2. Take a chance - launch the Gamble function to try to double it or even increase it several times.

Main Gamble options

1. Card selection (classic). The player is asked to guess the color of the card (red or black):
  • correct choice = double;
  • wrong = loss of winnings.
  • In some versions, you can guess the suit of the card, which increases the winnings by 4 times, but the risk increases.

2. Gamble Ladder. The win moves on a multiplied scale. The player presses a button, and the result is a step up (increase) or drop down (loss).

3. Select a symbol. Sometimes providers offer a simple guessing game with symbols (for example, guessing a hidden sign).

Restrictions and rules

The function can be activated several times in a row, but most often the provider sets a limit (for example, a maximum of 5 doubles in a row).
Gamble is not available in all countries and may be disabled in some jurisdictions at the request of regulators.
The RTP of the main game and the RTP functions of Gamble are considered separately: the second is always closer to 50/50, as it is based on pure risk.

Advantages for the player

The ability to increase even a small gain.
Excitement and a sense of control: the player decides for himself whether to take the risk or take the money.
Visual dynamics: Gamble is often designed in the style of a mini-game, which enhances engagement.

Risks and disadvantages

The probability of losing is always equal to or higher than the probability of winning.
Gamblers often lose all accumulated winnings, striving for another double.
Not suitable for a cautious bankroll management strategy.

Providers actively using Gamble

Novomatic is a classic of the genre, especially in the * Book of Rai * Lucky Lady's Charm * series.
Play'n GO - offers a guessing card in most of its games.
EGT - often integrates Gamble as a ladder.
Pragmatic Play - uses less often, but in a number of slots the option is available.

Result

The Gamble/Double Feature is an optional tool that makes slots more gambling. It is simple in mechanics, but requires the player to understand the risk: the probability of doubling the gain is equal to the probability of losing everything. For Australian players, this option is familiar from land-based machines and is still in demand in online casinos. Whether to include it or not is a matter of personal strategy: conservatives will prefer to keep the winnings, and risk-takers will strive for the maximum multiplier.
